Lesson: Super Saviour
Super Saviour
"But God's mercy is great, and he loved us very much. We were spiritually dead because of the things we did wrong against God. But God gave us new life with Christ. You have been saved by God's grace. And he raised us up with Christ and gave us a seat with him in the heavens. He did this for those of us who are in Christ Jesus. He did this so that for all future time he could show the very great riches of his grace. He shows that grace by being kind to us in Christ Jesus. I mean that you have been saved by grace because you believe. You did not save yourselves. It was a gift from God. You cannot boast that you are saved by the work you have done."
Ephesians 2:4-9
Key Themes:
Jesus lived his whole life on Earth in perfect obedience to the Father, God
Jesus is our super Saviour
Jesus is our rescuer
Watch Mrs Ishak reading the book Owl Babies by Martin Waddell.
Discuss: Where do the owl babies live? Why are they alone? Where was Mummy owl? How did they feel when she came home?
When do owls sleep?
When do they fly around and hunt for their food?
Do you know what owls like to eat?
Did you know that they have very soft feathers that give them silent flight?
Owls also have sharp talons (claws), hooked bills (beak) and a head that can swivel around.
Nocturnal means to be awake and active at night. An animal that is awake at night and sleeps during the day is nocturnal.
Can you name some other animals that are nocturnal?
Let's Get Creative
Owl Babies Artwork
You will need:
the pieces from the pack
scissors
white paint or paper
pva glue
Rip the brown paper to make a branch that is big enough for the three owls to sit on. Draw some lines and knots in the branch with a black or brown texta.
Paint the three owls, each with a head and body. Make the baby owls three different sizes - Sarah is the biggest, then Percy and the smallest Bill.
If you have no white paint, use paper and trace circles.
Once dry, cut up the feathers. Put lots of glue onto each owl then press on the feathers.
Make sure your feathers are well stuck. You may like to paint part of the moon on your artwork.
Glue the eyes and beaks onto your baby owls.
