How many legs does a ladybird have?
Are ladybirds always red and black?
How many wings do ladybirds have?
What do ladybirds do when they are frightened?
Can you describe the life cycle of a ladybird?
There are lots of different times in this book. I wonder what you do at different times of the day.
What are 2 things you do in the morning?
What are 3 things you do at night?
If you would like to learn to tell the time, watch this video.
To practise learning the numbers from one to 10, ask a grown up to write them on some cards.
You could practise putting the numbers in order. Then mix them up and do it again.
Trace the numbers. Start each number where there is a red dot and follow the arrows.
Count the spots on each ladybird and drw a line to match with that number.
Colour the laybirds red, orange or yellow.
Find the hidden ladybirds and colour them red or orange.
FIREFLIES

Listen to this story about a lonely firefly searching for other fireflies.
After you watch the video on Fireflies, see if you can answer these questions:
Is a firefly a fly or a worm? What insect 'family' does it belong to?
How many species of firefly are there in Australia?
Where are the eggs laid?
What is special about the firefly eggs and larvae?
How long does an adult firefly usually live for?
Bioluminescence - a fireflies glow. Where is the lantern part on a fireflies body?
Can you name the 3 reasons a firefly flashes it's light?
What colour can a fireflies light be?

Firefly Artwork
Gather all the pieces from your pack.
Carefully cut out the three body parts and the three wings.
Draw a face on each of the green circles.
Glue the back of each face then place at the top of the brown body part.
Next put a small amount of glue at the lower part of the antennae and attach to the back of the head.
Glue the body onto the wings. See above.
If you have some gold or any coloured glitter at home, you might like to add some where the 'lantern' is at the end of the abdomen.
You can glue your moon and three fireflies wherever you like on the page.
Add some twinkling stars.
Please keep this art activity for your journal. We will collect these next term.
