Being a mentor helps you develop lots of different skills. Being a student at the University of Sheffield means there are also lots of other opportunities to develop skills for your future career or pathway.
Make a start on planning and recording your skill development by downloading the 'Action Plan Template on the 'Join up your Skills' webpage.
You can then build up a log of activities undertaken using the the Skills Resource Bank's Activities Dashboard, so you can keep track of your own personal and professional development.
Use the Careers Service to look at possible career pathways with your skills/degree as well as how to further develop your employability skills, get help with your CV, Applications, Interviews and Tests and see details of all the Careers Service Events
If you are a student who is in the first generation of their family to go to university, you can use the dedicated careers support called

301 Student Skills & Development Centre, the Careers Service, University of Sheffield Enterprise, the University Library, the English Language Teaching Centre, the Modern Language Teaching Centre and CiCS Creative Media are working together to help you 'Join Up Your Skills' by providing a range of online resources and face-to-face activities to enhance your professional, personal and academic skills.
