Our Key Stage 3 students have now all completed their first set of assessments for the four Criterion. We are pleased with the great amount of resilience that they displayed during their Criterion C / speaking.
Year 7s will study next 'Local and International Places', they will learn how to talk about different places in your town, places in other countries, and famous world locations in the language that they are studying.
Year 8 will study 'Lifestyles and healthy lifestyles'. It will help them learn how to talk about sports, being healthy, and their diet in the language they are studying. It also helps you grow as an IB learner by building communication skills, cultural awareness, and responsible decision-making.
In Year 9 MFL, the topic “Town and Local Area” helps students develop more detailed and complex language to describe where they live, what there is to do, and how different places compare. They first learned this topic in Year 7, but because MFL follows a spiral curriculum, they now revisit it at a higher level, using richer vocabulary, more advanced grammar (such as multiple tenses, comparatives, and modal verbs), and more developed opinions with reasons.
Year 10 students have made an excellent start to their KS4 journey this year! Many have already shown great progress in their language skills. As they continue to build confidence, it’s important they begin revising for their Speaking Assessment in Module 3. Practising vocabulary, key phrases, and speaking aloud at home will help them perform at their best. Keep up the hard work and continue using class resources to prepare thoroughly!
Well done to our Year 11 students who have just completed their AQA GCSE mock examinations!
To keep improving, students should review their results carefully, focus on their shortcomings, and practice regularly.
LanguageNut is a great tool to revise vocabulary, grammar, and exam-style questions at their own pace. Consistent use will help build confidence and prepare them for success in the final GCSE exams. Keep up the great work!
