Mr Farr - Head of Curie College
My first weeks as Head of Curie College have been incredibly positive and motivating. Both students and staff have shown exceptional warmth and support, making the transition into my new role here at Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy truly seamless. It has been a pleasure getting to know our community and seeing first-hand the pride everyone takes in being part of SGLA.
Our new behaviour policy is now fully embedded across the academy, and the impact has been clear. Expectations are consistent and we have seen a positive increase in the number of merit points across the academy, as students continue to rise to the challenge and demonstrate characteristics of the IB Learner Profile.
Curie College also has a great deal to celebrate. An impressive 158 students are now in the ‘excellent’ attendance category; an achievement that reflects their dedication, resilience, and relentless commitment to learning.
We will be celebrating students in our reward assembly on our return, after the Christmas break.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our families a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2026.
