The idea of this old-age home derives from the existing type of housing in the Makunsar village. The porosity of a house can be defined in many ways but what I observed in the village in some of the houses was, the openings of the house are structured in a way with the landscape playing an important role as the opening of the house gets framed in such a way that the door to the front-yard and the door to the backyard are aligned in a straight line and the plantations are occurring in such a way that the framing of the view creates an instinct for the person passing by the house to walk through the house. Observing this carefully I have designed an old-age home which is articulated in such a way that the openings are aligned to each other creating a through and through experience which tries to create an instinct for a person to walk through. The fragments are places in such an angle and in such a way that its morphology does not stand out as a foreign placement in the village. The placements and the openings become the main theme of the design. The design tries to blur the boundary between inside and outside with the help of openings such as the doors remain full height doors to add in a different experience as well as blurring out the boundary between inside and outside when open.Â
