The effect of Brain Rot on Sand Creek
By Adrina Woodward
For the past few years brain rot has taken over the young people of our society. It spread throughout the internet, homes, and now our very own high school. Brain rot has taken over many of our Sand Creek students' minds and vocabulary. There’s just one question. Is this takeover good or bad?
If you’ve never heard of brain rot, you're probably wondering what it is. Brain rot essentially describes people who sit on social media so much that they’ve developed made up slang and words that are now used in their everyday lives. Words like skibidi, alpha, rizz, and ohio are included in the vocabulary of brain rot.
Some people think brain rot has a negative effect on young adults. According to some, brain rot is annoying. “I think if I hear skibidi toilet one more time I might explode," says Mrs.Lam. When asking Emerson Walsh how he would feel if a teacher were to use brain rot phrases when talking to him, he said, “I would probably pass out on the floor."
Even though there are bad opinions about brain rot, some other people don’t have a problem with it. When asking Evan Grammer if he thinks brain rot could help communication with students and staff, he said, “I guess we could use it as a joking method, it makes kids more inclined to work… so if you said like, as you can see here as he fantum taxed something."
Overall, brain rot is looked at in many different ways. There isn’t really a good or bad verdict on brain rot yet. Let's just hope our teachers don’t start using brain rot phrases, Emerson might not make it.
