How do students feel about the no phone policy?
At the end of last year and the beginning of this academic year, Sand Creek Jr/Sr High School has implemented a newly enforced no phone policy. According to the bell to bell policy, students are prohibited from having a cell phone on their person from 7:55 am to 2:50 pm.
Through interviews, students have reported that while they understand the policy, they would like to add a few changes to the policy such as having cellphones during passing time, lunch time, and during Academic Center.
Eleventh grader Eleona Baker said, “ I wish we could have our phones on us all the time.” Many students have reported that they have similar feelings. Some students feel that they should be allowed to have their phones on their person in case of a personal emergency.
Sixth grader Sean Garcia said, “ I don’t know, I feel like it’s kind of a good thing so kids aren’t on their phones all the time and can actually pay attention and get their stuff done.” Sean feels satisfied with the no phone policy.
According to the interviews conducted, students feel that they should be allowed to have their phones on person during school hours.
