We had another great week at CPMA. Students and teachers are building relationships and we are seeing creativity and energy in our classrooms. Thank you parents for all your support of our students and programs. Our core value focus this fall is belonging, students are learning staff names, building relationships with new friends, and learning about their art pathways.
ALL PE and DANCE classes will begin dressing out Monday, August 26th. Please make sure your students bring their PE and DANCE clothes.
We will have a 7th grade Assembly on Friday, August 30th to review expectations and share some school spirit!

We have an exciting opportunity for all our Dance students. We are offering Dance classes in African dance and Hip Hop after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Late buses are available. Workshops will last for 6 six weeks and are from 3:00pm to 4:25 on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Some interested Dance students will be selected to perform in the Spring Dance Concert.
African dance with Miss Monie begins next week
Thursday, August 29th and runs every Thursday through October 3rd.
Hip Hop dance with Kevin Belisario
Begins Tuesday, Oct. 8th and runs every Tuesday through Nov. 12th. All levels are welcome.

Middle School Athletics Fall 2024 Registration Link is now live! Athletes that meet CPMA Student Success Criteria are eligible to try out. Spots on teams are limited. We ask families to strongly consider if their student can commit to the entire season's practice 2x a week and 2x games played every Saturday at SDUSD high schools. VAPA after school rehearsals often conflict with sports practices and priority will be placed on our dedication to arts programming.
Tryout Details:
Students that meet CPMA's Success Criteria and whose parent/guardian has completed the registration form will receive a pink pass to line up at the PE gate for tryouts after school on (see dates below). Students must be on time to check in at 2:41pm to be admitted into the tryout area. Locker rooms will not be available; please plan accordingly. Tryouts will end about 4:15pm with late buses departing at 4:35pm. Students being picked up will wait at the main entrance in front of school. Students taking late bus are expected to wait in the bus loading area with school staff after the tryout sessions end.

6th Grade students (and new 7/8th graders to our district) will trade their former laptop from elementary school for a brand new district laptop. This will be their laptop for the next three years. Students will need to bring their current laptop to school on Tuesday 8/10 in order to receive their new laptop during Math class.
Students will get information from their PE teachers about purchasing PE/Dance clothes during the first week of school. Students will not have to dress out during the first week of school.

With that in mind, we will prioritize spots on CPMA Teams for students that can make a commitment and for those who may not have the opportunity to play with outside organizations.

PRIME TIME students: Students will be entering prime time via the west gate, PRIME TIME must have a Parent Participation form on file for students to be able to attend. Please use these links to access the document if you have not completed one at this time. Students will be released from PRIME TIME at 7:45am to enter the quad to pick up schedules and packets if they did not attend Orientation.

Riders of Buses with Letters: enter through the east side gate at 7:45am and will head to the quad to pick up their schedules and packets if they did not attend orientation.
Riders of Buses with Numbers: enter from the west side of campus between the 300 and 400 building and head to the quad to pick up their schedules and packets if they did not attend orientation.
Students whose Parents Drop off: will enter through the front gate of campus on 5050 Conrad Ave. Students and families can walk to the quad to pick up their schedules and packets if they did not attend orientation. Parents are welcome to stay until the first bell rings, then quietly exit campus.
