2024-25 Choice Enrollment
If you are a current student enrolled at CPMA, you will not need to re-enroll or complete the choice application to continue at CPMA for next year. We currently have 81 seats available for the 2024-25 school year for any friends, family, teammates, youth theatre friends, band mates etc. to join us. Have them fill out the Choice application on the SDUSD web site if they are interested in attending CPMA for the 2024-25 school year.

Breakfast in the Classroom
Breakfast in the Classroom starts tomorrow!! It provides a sit down FREE balanced breakfast for all students every day. During these 3 weeks that we are investigating the feasibility of this program for our students and staff, there will be breakfast for all students, and there will not be a nutrition break snack. If you have any questions please email Mr. Page at dpage@sandi.net.
ELPAC Testing
ELPAC Testing: Beings February 1st, and that the cut off for testing is March 29. See Ms. Gahan at kgahan@sandi.net if you have any questions.
Middle School Athletics
Spring Sports (Football/Cheer) Registration is LIVE! The spring season will run from March 6 – May 18. Please contact our MSA Liaison Lupe Celedon at gceledon@sandi.net for questions or support.

Wrestling Pilot Program Interest Meeting:
CPMA is considering participation in the MSA Wrestling Pilot program. CPMA may offer wrestling in the spring depending on interest, logistics, and SGT approval. Students interested in finding out more may attend an informational meeting at Lunch on Tuesday 2/27 in the PE Fitness Room. Coach Brandon Davis from Madison HS will present. Seating is limited, students will need to sign up for a pass at link:

Tardy Recovery Program
How to recover tardies:
Attend a recovery session at Lunch in Room 206 with Ms. Celedon. No need to sign up, just bring your food and arrive within the first 10 minutes of lunch. 20 minutes = 4 tardy credits.
Attend a recovery session at Lunch with any teacher that you make arrangements with. Your teacher can email Ms. Celedon to update your credits.
MARCH 1, 2024 is the end of the P3 grading period. After 3/1/24 students may not make up new tardies that have occurred after 3/1/24. You may continue to make up tardies that were marked between the first day of school and 3/1/24. Tardies that occur after 3/1/24 are not eligible for tardy recovery so please remember to be on time to all classes.
8th Grade Eligibility Support Plans (ESP)
The P3 progress report period ends March 1, 2024. Students that are currently not meeting eligibility for 8th Grade year-end activities (Promotion Ceremony, 8th grade field trip, 8th grade celebration event) are advised to reach out to Ms. Tropila ltropila@sandi.net by Monday, 3/4/24. This is the deadline to initiate an ESP for support to recover eligibility.
2024 8th Grade East Coast Trip Expedition
Attention All 8th grade students who are registered for the 2024 East Coast Trip Expedition. We are excited to announce that we will begin having meetings during Lunch starting next week on Thursday, February 29th. We will meet in Room 419. If you have registered, please utilize the assignment in your 8th Google Community Classroom to write any questions you would like us to answer. Mr. G, Mr. Ingrum, and Mr. Dyke will clarify anything you need to know in order to prepare for our upcoming trip over summer. See you there!
California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS)
The CHKS surveys students statewide covering topics related to alcohol, tobacco, drugs, bullying, and other health issues such as school climate and student resiliency. Survey data will assist schools in:
Preventing youth health-risk behaviors
Promoting positive youth development
Fostering positive school climates

Arts and Story Hour

Where: Cafeteria and Black box Theater
Who: Students from the following classes: Paine, Laughlin, Marsh, and Law
The cafeteria will be set-up with approximately 6 different art stations with different projects. There will be volunteers to assist with the project and give instructions.
Playwrights Project
6th Grade students will continue to work with the SDSU Playwrights project in their English Classes. We can't wait to see what our students create.
Honk Jr Musical
The Honk Jr cast will continue rehearsing for our Middle School Musical after school this week:

We appreciate students being cooperative and communicative with us regarding this policy. Our cell phone policy is based on the District Student Cell Phone Use Policy. It contributes to gossip, bullying, and negative interactions on campus. They also distract students from the learning environment.
Core Academy
In an effort to help prepare students obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the ongoing demands of the 21st Century, CPMA staff will conduct Core Academy: Supporting Student Achievement Success, a Saturday session for students to receive additional support in their core classes (Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science).
Bullying Prevention and Reporting
We encourage our students to be up-standers and if they "See Something, Say Something" to reduce bullying on our campus. We investigate all instances of bullying that are reported to our school site. If there are any concerns please email your students counselor or an AP, and or complete the bullying reporting form: Online Bullying Reporting Form

Hello CPMA Families,
Thank you for all the staff and students who made the ASB Valentines Dance a success. We had a great time celebrating our students who have met our Success Criteria and were able to enjoy being a kid and dance and eat pizza and spicy chips! Thank you to ASB for sponsoring the dance so it was Free for those who attended.
We will be piloting the Districts Breakfast in the Classroom Program starting February 26th for approximately 3 weeks. It provides a sit down FREE balanced breakfast for all students every day. If you have any questions please email Mr. Page at dpage@sandi.net.

On Thursday, February 22, we're taking nominations for student and teacher stand-outs. Nominate your friends and favorite teachers for a variety of categories which will be voted on at a future date.
While you're nominating teachers and students, get your buddy photo taken. This is the final day our photographers are taking buddy photos. See you near the butterfly mural at the 400 building during lunch!

We recognize that your communities have been severely impacted by this months storms. Children & Youth in Transition developed a list of resources to assist families and students during this difficult time.

Hello CPMA Families,
The CPMA staff would like to thank all the families that supported our students this week at our Grade Level Semester 1 Awards Ceremony and our Visual Art Show Through Our Eyes. It was so great to see smiling families and students as they learned about the rich learning experiences students engaged in during 1st Semester.
We will continue to focus on our Core Values with our students via our Leader In Me Curriculum during Homeroom each week. The Leader in Me curriculum focuses on Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective teens.
We will be trying out the Districts Breakfast in the Classroom Program starting February 26th for approximatley 3 weeks. This will give us an idea if we want to commit to this program for all of our students for the year next year. It provides a sit down FREE balanced breakfast for all students every day. Students that have full bellys will be better prepared to learn. If you have any questions please email Mr. Page at dpage@sandi.net.

Hello CPMA Families,
Happy Black History Month!
As classrooms and school districts across the nation kick off their Black History Month celebrations, let us remember the urgency and importance of teaching Black history beyond the month of February (SDUSD Equity and Belonging Team). The voices, lives, and history of our Black students and families are valued and this is why at CPMA we are partnering with SDSCPA and the Ethnic Studies department to pilot new Arts Integrated courses in our history department which will bring light to relevant stories and experiences for our students. We look forward to celebrating many of our students this week for our Semester 1 Awards Assembly has on Thursday, February 8th.

DEMI Math Testing will happen this week, this gives us an idea of our students strengths in Number sense, math application, and math knowledge.

Late Activity Bus Reminder that students are only able to ride the late activity buses if they stay on campus after school in a school sanctioned activity. Parents will have to come pick up students if they do not have a late bus pass from the school. (Middle School Athletics and VAPA rehearsals are only after school events this week)
