Summer School Options for Rising 9th Graders (current 8th graders)

• 1st time credit in Spanish (online)

• 1st time credit Math IM I or IM II (online) 

• 1st time credit for a College, Career, & Technical Education (CCTE) elective course (in person) 

• Credit recovery in Math IM I (in person)

If you are interested in taking any of these summer school courses, please email the 8th grade counselor, Lenci Tropila, at ltropila@sandi.net prior to March 14, 2024. 

• What: A high school information fair to give 8th grade students the opportunity to learn more about SDUSD high schools. 

• When: November 9, 2023 at lunch

• Who: 8th grade students + high schools

• High schools in attendance include Kearny, Madison, UC High School, San Diego High, The MET, Clairemont, Crawford, and SCPA

Our 8th grade students that have met our Criteria for Success (can be found in the student handbook) took a walking field trip to Madison high school on Thursday October 12th. The ROTC students from Madison came to escort our students on their walk to Madison, STAR treatment! The 8th graders got to tour campus, learn about the programs and arts offerings, and had fun with the Madison ASB! 

Audition for SDSCPA! 

Greetings 8th Grade Families!

If you have a student who loves the arts and want to continue their study of art in high school, then SDSCPA should be their home next year. We offer classes in Creative Writing, Dance, Design & Production, Music, Theatre, and Visual & Media Arts. If they are passionate about one of these, then we encourage you to apply! SDSCPA is a tuition free 6th-12th magnet school for the arts in SDUSD were we love and lift our students and where staff and students live our passion for the arts. We also have a competitive academic program; our graduating senior class was offered over 10 million dollars in scholarships! We are a choice school so all applicants must complete a Choice Application with SDUSD. The Choice Application Priority Window is now open (click here for link) and we ask all applicants to complete it by Saturday Oct 21st. We are also an audition-based school, but that just means we want to see your student's passion for the arts and to set the tone for our study in the arts. In-person auditions are Saturday, Oct 21st and the window for online audition submissions closes on Ot 21st. We can't wait to see your audition!

Choice Priority Window Application 

Hello 8th grade students! The Choice Priority Application Window is now open. If you would like to attend a high school other than your neighborhood high school, you need to complete the choice application by November 15, 2023. More information on the choice priority window, including optional Zoom information sessions for your parents, and various high school options can be found below.
