Middle school students will not be admitted to Madison Football games unless they are accompanied by an adult. Please adhere to this policy to keep good relationships with our school communities. There is also a clear bag policy if you plan to attend their games.
Students interested in targeted interventions for specific content areas, and or assignment support can sign up to attend Saturday Core Academies soon. Permission Slips will be sent home monday. CORE ACADEMY STARTS SATURDAY AUGUST 30TH AT 8AM.

Tryout Details:
Students that meet CPMA's Student Success Criteria and whose parent/guardian has completed the Fall Registration Link are listed on the Tryout Page (linked here 8/26/25). ONLY students on the approved tryout list may stay after school to line-up at the PE gate on tryout dates. If you believe your registration is complete but you are not on the list, email gceledon@sandi.net to inquire by lunchtime to review your registration eligibility. Do not wait until after school to check your status. You may try the next school day to review your registration during lunch in the main office.
Students must be on time to check in at 2:41pm to be admitted into the tryout area. Locker rooms will not be available; please plan accordingly.
LATE BUS: Tryouts will end at 4:30pm with late buses departing at 4:35pm. Students are responsible for planning their Late Bus Stop arrangement with parent/guardian. SEE LATE BUS ROUTES HERE. Discover the joy of music in this welcoming piano class open to all students—no prior experience needed! Students will learn the basics of piano playing, explore fun songs, and build confidence while developing their musical creativity.
Instrumental Practice Club - students in orchestra, band, modern band - Tuesdays
Extra time to practice your instrument with the help of a music teacher. Whether you play strings, winds, brass, or percussion, we’ll work on fun songs, practice tips, and help each other get better every week. Bring your instrument, your music, and your love of playing—we’ll make practicing fun!
Mapping Creativity: Exploring GIS and the Arts, Thursdays
In this 6-day workshop, students will discover how Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can be used not only for science and geography but also as a creative tool in the arts. Through hands-on projects, group activities, and digital mapping exercises, students will learn how spatial data connects to music, visual art, literature, and performance. By the end of the course, students will have created their own artistic GIS-based project, blending maps with storytelling and artistic expression.
Printmaking with Ms. Mercier, Tuesdays
Join us for Printmaking 101: create your own prints, making multiples of your favorite drawings and designs. We will learn the techniques of foam, relief and screen printing, allowing you to print on both paper and fabric! Meet us in room 205 each Tuesday starting on September 8th. See you there!
Rock Band/ Garage Band with Mr. Dyke
Hey CPMA! Do you want to learn/play some guitar and create songs and beats in GarageBand? Join Mr. Dyke's after school club. If you want to make music with your friends, make sure to sign up early.

San Diego Unified School District has new guidelines for mobile phone use on school campuses to help to minimize student distractions, elevate academic performance and prioritize students' mental health and well-being. San Diego Unified’s guidelines were developed in accordance with California's Phone-Free School Act (Assembly Bill 3216), and after seeking significant input from students, parents, and educators. It was approved by the Board of Education on July 8, 2025 and will be in effect beginning the first day of the 2025-26 school year.
Phones must be turned off during the instructional program and be kept out of sight, such as in a student’s backpack.

Spots on teams are limited. We ask families to strongly consider if their student can commit to the entire season's practice 2x a week and 2x games played every Saturday at SDUSD high schools.
VAPA after school rehearsals often conflict with sports practices and priority will be placed on our dedication to arts programming. Coaches will prioritize spots on CPMA Teams for students that can make the commitment AND those who may not have the opportunity to play with outside organizations.

7:30am-7:55am - Pick up maps and student schedules. Go to the quad and find the table with your Grade Level and Last Name to pick up schedule/packet if you did not attend orientation.
8:00am- School starts
Parents/Guardians please exit campus in order to secure gates
Period 1 Class begins. 6th Grade teachers will meet their period 1 class in the quad to guide them to classrooms.
2:36pm- School ends
Students assigned to take the school bus home should promptly check in at the bus terminal. Busses leave at approx. 2:45pm.
Drop off and Pick Up:
Students can be dropped off/picked up in two locations. See CPMA Map.
1) The front of school on Conrad Ave.
2) The Joint Use Field parking lot under the solar panels, entrance at Gate 1 (students can walk by the buses, cars may not enter the bus terminal.)
Bus riders will be dropped off on the access road behind the Theatre.
