CPMA COmmunity Newsletter

October 27th, 2023

Hello CPMA Families,

I had the honor and privilege to take a team of CPMA staff to Birmingham, Alabama for the annual Art Schools Network Conference "Teaching Anti-Racism and Equity Through the Arts." The conference was powerful and vital to our work here at CPMA. We will be sharing with staff our learning and we will be continuing to lean into our areas of growth to be the best school for all our students and provide spaces for our students to be seen and heard how they want to be seen and heard.

LCFF Forms are needed ASAP! We have only 91 forms out of 698 students completed. Each form equals about $115 of Federal funds for our school. We are on track for losing $68,000 in federal funds at the current submission rate. The deadline is Tuesday October 31st. PLEASE LOGIN TO YOUR PARENT PORTAL ACCOUNT TO COMPLETE- IT TAKES SECONDS AND PROVIDES NEEDED FUNDS TO OUR SITE.

Thank you,

Principal Pino Antl

Cell Phone Usage

I would like to thank our students who have been respectful and responsive when reminded to put phones away during the school day. We appreciate students being cooperative and communicative with us regarding this policy. Our cell phone policy is based on the District Student Cell Phone Use Policy. It contributes to gossip, bullying, and negative interactions on campus. They also distract students from the learning environment.

Core Academy

In an effort to help prepare students obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the ongoing demands of the 21st Century, CPMA staff will conduct Core Academy: Supporting Student Achievement Success, a Saturday session for students to receive additional support in their core classes (Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science).

No Outside Food Deliveries Allowed

Please remind your students that food delivery services such as Grub hub/Uber Eats are not allowed during the school day. Students are offered free breakfast and lunch every day. See our District Policy for more information.

Middle School Athletics

Congratulations to the following students for qualifying as one of the top 9 athletes for the upcoming MSA Track & Field Finals. Just so you are aware, 24 schools participated, and the top 27 athletes competed last week – leaving only the top 9 athletes moving forward to the Finals. At the Finals, only the top 3 athletes in each event will be recognized.

This means a total of 8 students are representing CPMA at the Track & Field Finals. This is a HUGE accomplishment for our students. I was predicting 2 or maybe 3 students in total attending Finals, 4 if we were super lucky. Eight is over thee moon! So proud of our students.

Fall Sports Registration is LIVE! Please contact our MSA Liaison Lupe Celedon at gceledon@sandi.net for questions or support.
