Art Pathway Change Requests for the 24/25 Year
Current 6th and 7th grade students attended an Art Pathway presentation in their English classes in December. The presentation may be viewed here.
Any students who requested to change one or both of their Art Pathway for next year, received a permission slip in their Period 2 class on January 5th. These permission slips and information was also emailed to parents on January 4th and January 11th.
All permission slips must be turned in by Friday, January 19th. Art Pathways for the 24/25 year will not be changed without a permission slip or meeting with a counselor. Please see below for more details.
In order for students to change their Art Pathway, the following steps must be completed:
Students must turn in a signed permission slip from their parent or guardian to their Counselor. A copy of this permission slip has been attached to this email and was distributed to students Friday, January 5th during Period 2. If students need another copy, they can pick one up from their counselor in the front office.
Students must attend the meeting scheduled for them with their Counselor. This will be scheduled once the signed permission slip is received. This meeting will take place during the regular school day. Attending this meeting does not guarantee that the Art Pathway will be changed. The questions that will be asked during the meeting are on the backside of the permission slip so that students can prepare ahead of time.
Students must come to the meeting prepared with reasons and evidence as to why the specific Art Pathway is a better fit than the previous Art Pathway.
There must be available seats in the specific Art Pathway they would like to switch into.
PLEASE NOTE: If the student is granted permission to switch Art Pathways, they will be placed in a class with their grade level (7th graders will be placed in the Intermediate 7th grade class and 8th graders will be placed in the Advanced 8th grade class). This means that the student will have missed the previous year(s) of instruction in the Art Pathway and will be starting 1 to 2 years behind their peers. This will require extra time and effort in order to get caught up and be successful.
*If the student is approved a change in Art Pathway, seat availability is on a first come first serve basis. We recommend turning in the permission slip as soon as possible since meetings will not be scheduled until the permission slip is received.
