Love of God, Love of One Another, Love of our World and Love of learning

Prayer

Dear Lord,

We all have different and unique qualities which make us special. We remember that different is a good thing and we learn through you to accept and celebrate those differences. We become stronger when we are united and show our love for each other as we are all friends and as one in your family.

As Jesus prayed for his disciples to be united as one, we pray that all our friends and family can do the same.

Amen

Headteacher Message

This week at Sacred Heart…

On Monday evening, I had the privilege of attending and seeing our school choir take part in the Southend Makes Music event at the Palace Theatre.  It was wonderful to see our talented group of singers performing so well and enjoying this special opportunity so much.  Thank you to Mrs Elvidge (and Mrs Melville previously) for preparing the children so well and enabling such a high standard.  Well done to all the children – you were all amazing!

A big WELL DONE to Year 1 St Patrick Class for your Class Assembly on Wednesday.  You all did a marvellous job in leading the school in our collective worship and in your retelling of the Bible story Jesus calling his first Disciples.  Thank you children for reminding us of the importance of having faith in God and ourselves.  Thank you also to parents/carers who were available to attend and support this event - it was wonderful having you with us in school.

On Thursday, we enjoyed a wonderful day in our celebrations of World Book Day.  Children looked great dressed as book characters, or in their pyjamas as part of our Bedtime Stories theme – and they greatly enjoyed taking part in a wide variety of book-related activities throughout the day.  The pupils also enjoyed sharing Performance Poetry during some special assemblies.  Many thanks to Miss Baldwin for her hard work and organisation of this important day and other class teachers for ensuring a fun and enriching experience for all pupils.  Thank you also to parents/carers for your great support of this day.  In school, we will continue to encourage pupils to recognise the value of reading – which is fundamental to successful learning.  Please continue to support your child by finding time to read with them and discuss what they are reading.  As children get older we can slip out of this habit - and this can sometimes be even more the case with second, third and fourth siblings as the time pressure of family life increases even further.  It is good to remember that making time for this will reap such benefits for your child and is never time wasted in our very busy days.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to our Parent Information Meetings, on Tuesday and Thursday of next week.  These meetings offer the opportunity discuss how your child is progressing and how to best support this progress at home. You will also have the opportunity to look through some of their work from across the academic year.  We look forward to seeing you all then.

God bless,

Mrs Mullally

The kitchen have just been informed that the suppliers of our Chicken Goujons have amended the ingredients to say that they may contain soya.  We have updated our menu below to include an allergy warning for the Chicken Goujons Wraps that are available on Wednesdays.

Adventure Island Tickets

You can get Adventure Island Tickets from the school office at a low price.

One Ride Bands priced at £15.00 and Sealife Tickets for £7.00.

Please ask the office staff for details.

We can only accept cash as payment for these.

Energy Drinks

We have become aware of some pupils having energy drinks in school. These are not to be bought into school and following government guidance children should not be consuming these due to the high volume of caffeine that can be found in them.

We are also requesting that empty Prime energy drink bottles are not used as water bottles please, to avoid any confusion.

If we discover any of these drinks or bottles in school they will be confiscated and parents can collect them from the office.

Attendance

Regular attendance at school is vital for children to thrive.  Missing school can have a significant effect on education with children missing key learning and having gaps in their knowledge and understanding.  Wherever possible, please ensure your child is attending school every day!  We like to reward positive attendance and currently have weekly and termly attendance rewards.

Every week, the best class attendance wins a cuddly toy for the week, a certificate, and an extra go on the play equipment!

This week's winners:

Each term the class with the highest attendance wins a pizza party with their class mates.
