"The Thinking Classroom" Inspired Open-Ended Numeracy Questions
We have been combining both grade 2 FI classes into small groups and giving them an open ended math question to work through and record on whiteboards and other erasable surfaces. These questions require problem solving skills and are designed to incorporate some element of what we are studying in numeracy. Here are some highlights of students deciding what Winnie, our therapy dog, could buy for her birthday from the pet store with her $100 gift card and putting their addition skills to work! Students showed great teamwork and creative thinking.
