I am calling this project, "Snowy Wires" because it includes the power lines going to the ski cabin and leads into the ski lift cable. The subject is a portrait based off of Elias' ski goggles and an architectural image based off of the shack next to the driveway. I chose to create this specific work to show the order in which you get your skis and then continue up the mountain to ski. The wires lead you from the shed where we keep our ski gear to the lift that brings us to the slopes. I used a variety of techniques including low horizon line and high horizon line. While creating this work, I paid close attention to lining up the cables to get the continuity between the two photos. I also made the more busy photo smaller to balance out what you are looking at. I wanted my work to look like they go together in terms of theme and setting and I did that by having them both have snow, trees and a cable. To add interest to my composition, I used contrast with the different values by having dark subjects with the white snow. I like the way the cables continue through the photos and how the lower halves of each photo is lighter that the tops. I am proud of the way I connected the photos and was able to incorporate a reflection into my concentration without it being a window reflection. However, I struggled with adding color to the photo and having it look good, so I made it black and white. I tried color select on one photo and full color on the other, but the colors didn't really work well together. If I created another work like this I may have the goggles more close up and have something interesting in the reflection, either the mountain or an overlay in photoshop. My work shows that I learned how to incorporate reflection into my concentration.
