Formal Balance
I'm calling this project, Rad Hippos because the hippo is doing a rad stunt. The subject is formal balance based off a hippo. I chose to create this specific work because I like the colors and what the words say on the skid steer. For materials, I used a toy hippo. I used formal balance as a technique in creating this photo. While creating this work, I paid close attention to getting an evenly balanced photo and capturing the full word. I wanted my photo to look colorful and I did that by choosing a colorful subject. To add interest to my composition, I used balance and contrast by having a dark and bright part of the photo. I like the way that the words are angled and am proud of the texture and color however I struggled with making the hippo look real. If I created another work like this I may try and make it more simple and less distracting. My artwork shows that I learned formal balance.
