Organic Forms

I am calling this project Spruce because that is the tree in the shot. The subject is a spruce tree and specifically the flower on top and the needles. I based this off of our prompt to incorporate organic forms into our concentration. I chose to create this specific photo because this tree reminds me a lot of Maine and is just a nice looking, uniform tree. I also like the way that the red and green look together with the white snow and background. I used a variety of techniques when creating this image such as angle up and angle down. One thing that I paid close attention to while creating this work was getting a super sharp focus on the needles up close. Another thing I did that wasn't originally planned but looked good, was having the angle up photo higher and the angle down photo lower, like you're looking up and down. I wanted my artwork to look sharp and clean and I did that by having brighter images and a nice white border. To add interest to my composition, I used pattern with the needles and texture with the chipped paint. I like the way the trees are around the cabin like the cabin is being slowly overgrown by the forest. However, I struggled coming up with an idea originally that incorporated my concentration and had to just go out and find something cool. If I created another photo like this I may try having more forest showing around the
