SHADOWS

The image’s subject is “woman” and her big shadow, the setting is a light room, I took this image with my camera in the light room, during the photography class. I made the image black and white to accentuate the pure shapes created by the shadow. There is a general smooth texture, with a full range of values, between black and white that create a contrast between each other emphasizing some parts of her body and, obviously, the shadow. I think that this also gives rhythm to the image.

I would say that it’s rule of thirds and a sharp focus, but I would define it as a low key lighting.

When I made this image I was initially taking pictures to other manikins in another part of the lightroom, but I couldn't get the shadow to be as I wanted so I went to move the light, when I realized that the shadow that it was projecting through this manikin was what I wanted so I take a picture of it.

The shadows represents the soul of a person, and it’s a contrast between the carnal body and the spiritual inside.
