At this module, you will be learning to work with a free Computer Aided Drafting (drawing) program called 'SketchUp'. The program is free and very simple to use once you 'get the hang of it'.
There are many different uses for Computer Aided Drafting, such as designing a house, parts for a project, cars, and even imaginary things that end up in movies and video games. Sketchup is a great way to try out some of these different applications.
Almost everything that we need, or want was drawn using a computer. Let's learn a little bit about how engineers & artists used computers to make our world!
Step 1- Watch the following Video
Take a look at these short videos to learn about some of the ways that Sketchup is used:
Step 2- Tell your teacher what you thought.
Open up your 'Google Drive' and make a new document.
Click on 'Untitled Document' and name it:
Q (your quarter of the year) P (your class period number) and full name.
For Example: Q3P5 Joe Kidd
Share it with your teacher before you start writing.
You will need to write (at least!) one paragraph explaining to your teacher what you thought about the short videos that you watched.
You could write about:
What things you thought were cool.
What types of things you would like to design someday.
How the videos were different than what you expected.
How Art & Technology work together.
