PART I:
You will use an online rocket flight simulator app to see if you can make your rocket go as high as possible and eject the payload into orbit. Watch the tutorial video below then use the predetermined criteria to nswer the blanks in your sheet! Be sure to write down the results! If you build something (even a virtual something), test it, collect data and try to improve it's performance............... we call that ENGINEERING! Have fun!
Download the Rocket Launch Challenge Data Collection Sheet below and save a copy to fill out on your computer
or
Print a copy and fill it out in pen or pencil!
PART II:
Step 1- After downloading the "Rocket Data Collection Sheet" from the link above, make sure you read all the instructions. The instruction document has links to videos that explain exactly how the simulator should work as well as detailing how Mass, Thrust, Thrust Time, Drag, and Mass Change affect your overall flight. Only proceed to step 2 AFTER you have read all the instructions and understand what is expected of you!
Hint: The collection sheet will ask you for exact measurements, Be sure to write them down as demanded.
Example: If it asks you what thrust it will take to reach an altitude of 69km, be sure that your rocket reaches EXACTLY 69km. If your rocket exceeds the given criteria, you must adjust your variables and try again.
Step 2- Using the data collection sheet, Complete All the Blanks in the Rocket Data Collection Sheet!
You will need to fill in ALL the blank boxes and spaces in your data collection sheet.
This will require trial and error to find the correct value for each answer.
