For this assignment, you will create a 'Google Slides' with a partner and then to research information on a specific person that your teacher will assign to you. You will be learning how to share and work together with this person, The challenging part of this assignment will be to 'share' the finished document with your teacher without ever having talked out-loud to your partner! Your teacher might give extra credit to the most silent group....
As always, you will be held responsible for EVERYTHING created and/or said with this account.
Remember, don't try to get the assignment done perfectly, experiment with HOW to get the assignment done.
Follow the Directions & Have Fun
Step 1- Log into the Computer & check your 'Gmail'
You will need to log-on to a computer and then check your Gmail. You can do this by clicking on the shortcut that you made.
Step 2- Navigate to this page & read the assignment
You will need to use this page as a resource, it's not a bad idea to make another bookmark for the main "Getting started with Google" page at the bottom of the 'Module Lab' page. While you are reading the specifics of the assignment, your teacher will come around and assign your partner and who you are going to research.
Step 3- Make "contact" with your partner
The first problem that you face, is communicating with your partner without talking to them. You have a school Gmail account, start by "composing" a new email and start typing their name in the "To:" box. Even if you misspell their name, Google will try to help you by giving you various entries to choose from. Say 'hello' to them and see if they have read the assignment too!
If you received the email from your teacher, you will need to 'Forward' the email to your partner.
Step 4- Create the "Document"
Go to your 'Google Drive' by either clicking on the shortcut in your bookmark bar, or clicking 'Docs' or 'Drive' in the black bar at the top of your Gmail.
Click on 'Create', then 'Slides'
At the top of the screen, click on "Untitled Document" and type your name.
Step 5- 'Share' & Comment on the document
Sharing a document with Google Drive couldn't be easier. In the upper right side of the document is a blue button that says "Share"; click it. At the bottom of the 'Sharing Settings' box is a place to start typing your partner's name. Just as before, Google will try to help you find their Gmail address. After you finished typing in their name, type in your teacher's name as well. Click on the green button that says "Save & Share".
Once you have shared, click on the button that says "Comment" and send your partner a message. (You might want to start by figuring out who is going to do the writing!) Then have your partner add their name to yours for the title of the document. You must use the "Explore Tool" to put images into the assignment.
Remember, it's a group effort. But the trick is to get the job done WITHOUT TALKING TO THEM !
Good Luck, Have Fun!
