Abstract
Various forms of trauma were researched to determine the potential effect they may have on the learning brain. Males were faster to show the effects of trauma behaviorally while females took longer to display the effects of trauma. Students who grew up in impoverished conditions showed a higher percentage of behaviors that interrupted the learning environment. School systems have begun putting positive learning protocols into place to help shape the behavior of students effected by trauma. Together, these findings suggest students who have been exposed to trauma have difficulty working in a learning environment. This experiment attempted to test the hypothesis that college students’ perceptions of potential trauma in elementary students could lead to students having difficulty learning information in school and their behavior will inhibit their academic success. A survey was created on Google Forms and distributed through email to college students. The results concluded that college students’ perception on trauma may lead to difficulty in learning.
