Abstract
In the past decade, there has been a revolution in the technology used every day by type-1 diabetics. This technology has not only eased the weight type-1 diabetics bear, but has brought awareness to their care management process. This awareness seeks to include the mental health aspects of this disease. Although type-1 diabetes is a chronic illness, mental health plays an equal role in this illness as does physical health. Management of this illness also seeks to explore disease education for caregivers of those with type-1 diabetes. Educating them on the use of these new technologies is to their advantage. Caregiver education will also include what changes in mental health to look for in patients. By doing so, this can create a working system that focuses on the overall health of the patient. Designing these education programs to encompass mental and physical gives the care team the best tools to care for type-1 diabetics.
