Abstract
This case study will analyze how Disney princesses in Wreck-It Ralph 2 are portrayed differently than individual Disney princesses in their respective movies. The Potter Box is going to be used to analyze the kinds of stereotype portrayals of individual Disney princesses in past movies. The Potter Box looks at the facts, values, principles, and loyalties that exist under ethical and unethical circumstances (Patterson et al, 2019). The Communitarians principle will be used as part of the analysis. It is, "Dominant intellectual emphasis on the individual and individual acts by emphasizing concepts such as character, choice, liberty, and duty" (Patterson et al, 2019, p. 16). The portrayal of the princesses in Wreck-It Ralph 2 will be evaluated to determine whether or not they break Disney Princesses female role stereotypes by answering the following questions:
How does Vanellope differ from more popular Disney Princesses?
Is Disney humoring their own views on female roles in the past or making a positive statement towards modern-day female roles?
What kind of attributes should be seen in modern-day Disney Princesses?
