Abstract
Project "Equity in Education" by Latriece Platt is a grant proposal that addresses the benefits of programs and curriculum that are geared toward non-English speaking students. There are several benefits of multicultural education and it positively affects students and their families. As communities in the Midwest region become more diverse, it is important that there are resources that are available in the learning environment that meet the needs of diverse students. This grant proposal discusses the relevance of funding to support this cause. It includes statistics about English language learners (ELL) and information about current ELL programs. It also includes a need statement, objectives, and detailed plans for funding. Overall, this displays how leaders in the early childhood field, such as directors, can take initiative to improve learning for the students enrolled in their program. This grant shows how individuals in the education field can advocate for their students in a practical way that ultimately affects the entire surrounding community.
