Abstract
“Project Social Butterfly” by Rachel Lambert highlights the need for teachers to have continuing education in the area of social and emotional development of young children. By teachers continuing their education in this area of children’s development, they will be able to foster deeper and more meaningful relationships with their students. Once a teacher has gained a relationship with their students, the student is more likely to achieve a higher development in the academic areas. The “Project Social Butterfly” grant proposal will pay for the teachers’ ability to attend a workshop, conference, and/or additional trainings, as well as pay for the materials needed afterwards to implement the new research-based methods into their classrooms. This grant proposal contains a summary for “Project Social Butterfly” followed by the needs statement. This section breaks down the basic needs of the grant proposal into a list and explains where the funding will go to address these needs. After the needs statement, goals, objectives, and strategies are assessed and explained. Each objective is matched with an evaluation of how “Project Social Butterfly” will be implemented out after the grant money has been received including anecdotal notes, student assessments, and assessments of teachers. A budget shows specific costs of these trainings, conferences, and workshops, as well as the amount needed for materials. After the grant has been completed, teachers will write anecdotal notes and perform assessments to analyze and conclude if the students are gaining development in social and emotional growth.
