Abstract
This project is a grant that is written by Brittany Quackenbush in order to gain funds that will help provide technology to early childhood students. One of the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s (NAEYC) guidelines for technology for children in preschool and kindergarten is to “Allow children to freely explore touch screens loaded with a wide variety of developmentally appropriate interactive media experiences that are well designed and enhance feelings of success,” (N., 2020). In the current climate of education, technology has moved to the forefront of how students are learning. Their basic educational needs are being supported through applications that allow students to interact with teachers and peers. However, some students are not receiving the same opportunities to have technological support. This grant proposal will discuss why providing tablets to students will help support their educational needs and give them the ability to participate in the classroom of today and the foreseeable future. As this world crisis continues to unfold, teachers need the resources and the ability to be able to provide these resources that help their students along their educational journey. The participation of each student who receives a tablet can be measured through attendance on applications like Google classroom. Their learning progress can be measured through applications such as COR Advantage and the Ages and Stages Questionnaires. These applications allow for anecdotal notes and measurements based on developmental milestones for each individual child. But first, children must have the technology at hand in order to be able to participate.
