Abstract

Posy Academy, located in Clinton Township, MI, is requesting Best Buy corporation to donate 60 iPads so the children can use it as a part of their academic program in regular classrooms or during virtual learning. Technology tools are very important nowadays and can be very helpful to increase student learning and engagement and encourage positive social interactions. The school seeks to have these iPads by the end of this year so that when they go through online learning each child will be able to have their own iPad to participate in classroom activities. These iPads will be for children whose families cannot afford technology assistance because of a lack of money or other resources. This school serves 60 children in four preschool classrooms. The school will use these iPads to communicate with children on a daily basis, allowing them to participate in lessons and activities that the teachers have planned. It will be beneficial for each child to be part of the classroom every day and each family to feel included in their child’s learning. The children will benefit from these iPads and this advanced technology will help them be independent and competent users in the future. It is anticipated that these iPads will increase learning and participation and ease parents’ needs as well. There will be an assessment done with the use of these iPads observing the children’s use and interest in them as well as documenting increased level of interaction and educational skills learned during that time. The school will strive to implement skills that will lead to student success in the future using these advanced technology tools.
