Easter Passion Play

Some years at Easter, Brighton is fortunate to host an Easter Passion play, The Passion of Christ, a moving portrayal, faithful to the original scripture, of the days leading up to Jesus’ arrest, death and resurrection. The cast are volunteers from the local community that comprise a mixture of backgrounds, denominations and nationalities, and they often have no previous acting experience. Creative Director has been James Burke-Dunsmore, who has played the role of Jesus in Brighton’s production, and on stage and screen nationally and internationally for over 14 years. In 2013, James has handed over the challenging role to a talented young professional actor, chosen from dozens of gifted applicants. The productions highlight Jesus’ role as a teacher and show the remarkable methods he used to guide his unlikely students in preparation for their ultimate commission to bring the world into the light.
