St. Teresa of Avila is proud to be “The Mindful School”. The benefits of mindfulness include improved self-regulation and overall well being.
Staff will continue to teach and promote mindfulness skills in a variety of settings; the classroom, in the gym, and during weekly Tiger Time sessions.
Classroom lessons have begun on a variety of topics such as negative vs positive self-talk, considering others perspectives, growth mindset, social filters and taking part in mindful activities in the Mindful Nest.
February Tiger Time
During the month of February, all classes had the opportunity to attend Tiger Time to talk about Love & Kindness which tied into Pink Shirt Day & Valentines Day!
We encourage all families to 'Spread Kindness' and to see where they can spot kind actions & words in our community.
A fun activity that helps children learn more about kindness is to complete random challenges anonymously. Then as a family talk about how each person felt doing something for someone without them knowing.
Ideas: Shovel a driveway or walkway, leave a baked treat on a friends doorstep and post positive messages on post it notes on mailboxes. You could also have everyone in your family write ideas and draw one from a jar each month.
