🔥 Forging the Future: Women & Welding Complete the Eternal Light Sculpture
The “Women & Welding” team at Edison CTE has officially wrapped up the welding phase of the Eternal Light Project—a powerful student-built sculpture that celebrates creativity, craftsmanship, and the spirit of Career & Technical Education.
Over the past week, students welded the final leaves onto the hand-forged vines, completed the last placements, and finalized all major fabrication work. With the metalwork now complete, the focus shifts to painting and finishing touches.
This towering 8-foot column will soon be permanently mounted in the Edison Library, where it will serve as a glowing symbol of knowledge, skill, and student achievement. The grand reveal is planned for September as part of our kickoff to the 2025–26 school year!

Our incredible young women in the Construction Pathway are continuing to shine as they bring the 2025 L3 (Ladies, Ladders, & Lenses) Mosaic Tile Project to life—an artistic celebration honoring Michelle Obama for her legacy of strength, leadership, and education.
After an energetic start on Build Day 1 (May 22), where students laid out the design and began placing tiles under the guidance of construction teachers Ms. Dermody and Mr. Schmitt, and art teachers Ms. Niederpruem and Ms. Gilbert, the momentum carried right into Build Day 2.
On May 23, the students successfully completed the tile placement. Working closely with Mr. Schmitt, they then began the grouting process, carefully sealing the design and bringing out the rich textures and colors of their mosaic. Meanwhile, the carpentry students built and prepared the mounting materials, ensuring everything is ready for installation.
🎉 Save the Date!
The final masterpiece will be unveiled on June 13 at 9:30 AM, proudly displayed on the second floor next to the library.

Edison students released their documentary entitled "In Silence of Memory, We Speak", a film about how one school (Edison), 10 disciplines and 11 classrooms, bridge their subject matters, to Alzheimer's disease and its disproportionate effect on the Black and Brown community. The screening took place at The Theater at Innovation Square. Dozens of students attended along with family, faculty, District Administrators, Alzheimer's Association representatives and community members.
FACT: Hispanic Americans and Black Americans are 1.5 to 2 times more likely than White Americans to have Alzheimer's or other dementias.
This is why students joined with their teachers to learn more about the disease and the students in the TV & Video Production program captured those moments. The film features DJ Jackson's grandfather, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. It is a powerful documentary routed in the work of our students.
Please take a few minutes today to show this film and the work our students did this year. We will have pictures on our website that Dan Collins will share later today.
Thank you for taking the time to view this documentary with your students.
