The RTMA is sponsoring the first-ever ROC With Your Hands career exploration event this fall. The event is hosted by the City of Rochester in partnership with Monroe County, Monroe Community College, the Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program, the Builders Exchange of Rochester, and UNiCON. Edison had a recruitment table set up displaying student work, and videos promoting our school and CTE programs. This event was open to all schools in Monroe County: public, private/parochial, charter, and homeschool.

Edison Tech held its second annual Diesel Days At Edison. This event included companies from different branches of the diesel tech industry. Students were able to explore careers with representatives from local vehicle dealerships, fleet vehicle companies, trucking companies, parts companies, and more. Students visited tables with various hands on activities and representatives highlighting their companies career outlook and future career positions. The event extended to an outdoor section exposing students to vehicles from these companies. As they rotated around the various vehicles they got to have a great hands on learning experience from highly qualified diesel tech representatives.

This event was also extended into our parent teacher conferences during the evening of October 13th. Families where able to meet and discuss career opportunities for their student as they explored the displays and vendors.

Students at Edison are completing their Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Applications. These applications are due OCTOBER 28TH and must be completed online. FLYAP is a one-of-a-kind career exploration program. We connect students to advanced manufacturing companies through Matching Day events that lead to job shadows and paid co-ops.
