Troy Andrews grew up surrounded by music in the Trem
é neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana, a city famed for it's jazz and blues. He wanted to be just like his grandfather and big brother and play in a band, and when he finally got his hands on an old, beat-up trombone, he never let it go. The trombone was so much bigger than little Troy, that his older brother nicknamed him Trombone Shorty. . .and the name stuck.
