The Cook Prize for Nonfiction

Each January, four STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) books are nominated for The Cook Award by the Bank Street College of Education. During February and March, students across the country and around the world read and evaluate the books. Students judge the books according to criteria and then vote for the one book they feel is the best. The votes are counted and the winner is announced in May. This is no "mock" award: the official winner of The Cook Award is chosen by students - not adults!
