How do you find the books you read?

Some might get suggestions from teachers and friends. Some might browse a library or bookstore to see what appeals to them. The Brookline Public Library has some good programs happening that might help you to find your next great read!

100 Books Before High School

The Public Library of Brookline has a new program for students in grades 6 -8 called "100 Books Before High School".

Participants are challenged to try to read 100 books between now and starting 9th grade. Are you up for the challenge?

Here's how it works:

Sign up here
Read whatever books you choose at your own pace
Log your books on the site
For each month that you log at least one book you are entered in a raffle for a Booksmith gift card!
If you reach the goal and read 100 books before high school you will earn a "high school survival kit"!

So....which book will you read first? The possibilities are endless since the challenge is very open-ended.

Here are some displays from our school libraries of possiblities to get you started. Check out the catalog of your school library to see what's available. The public library is also a good place to check.

The public library will be hosting monthly book chats on Zoom for middle schoolers who are participating in the challenge. Check the website for more information about the November meeting. You can go to the meetings even if you aren't participating in the challenge. It's a good chance to get book suggestions from the librarians and from students your age across town.
