Ruth Bader Ginsberg grew up in a world very different from the one we know today. When she was young, in the 1950s, girls' choices were limited. At school, they had to take classes like cooking and sewing. As they grew older, they were not expected to have careers outside the home. Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and luckily her mother, thought that this was ridiculous. And Ruth spent the rest of her life working to change this.

She excelled in school and went on to college and law school, graduating first in her class. When no law firms would hire her, she became a professor, and argued many cases before the Supreme Court, the highest court in the United States.

She eventually became a judge, and in 1993, President Clinton appointed her to the Supreme Court where she still presides today. Ruth Bader Ginsberg is famous for "dissenting", or disagreeing, with many of the court's decisions she finds unjust . In all of her different roles, she has fought for fairness and equality for all of us. Over the years, she has become famous and admired all over the world, and is often referred to by her initials, RBG.
