Jason Chin writes and illustrates nonfiction on themes from the natural world. Through extensive research, usually including visiting new places to witness his subjects first hand, he unearths fascinating details that bring them to life. He often tells the true stories of the wonders around us through the eyes of a character who becomes immersed in those worlds. Whether we are reading about redwood trees, coral reefs, or the Grand Canyon, Jason Chin's books not only inform us but take us on a journey through time and space.

In 2018, Jason won a Texas Bluebonnet Award for his book Grand Canyon. Check out this interview where he answers questions about the process of making the book.
In this audio interview, Jason talks about writing the Grand Canyon, and recounts the awkward moment when he learned that he had won a Caldecott Honor.
