In the past, student council elections within PSA used to be quick and not made a big deal. Some wouldn’t even know they were happening until it was over. This year was proven to be different though, as it was the topic that sweeped the halls quickly with many enthusiastic voices looking to make a change for their grade. Due to the high turnout this year, many people focused on the faces instead of the actual process that takes place in order to elect these officers.
The very first step to these elections is obviously the signing up part. Some may think the students running just started hanging up posters, but that's far from the truth. In order for the candidate to start campaigning, they need to get approved by their grade advisors along with their posters. Once approved the official campaigning process may begin, as they go around asking students for their vote whether that may be verbally or through sweets and other treats.
After the campaigning week is over, election day arrives as the nominees make their way to the gym stage and stand in groups of the title they’re running for (president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary), and their classmates sit on the bleachers waiting for the speeches. Each student then gives their speeches, highlighting why their fellow classmates should vote for them. After speeches are done, a google form is sent out to the students of the contenders’ grade, where they vote for who they want to win.
After a couple of days of counting up the votes it's finally revealed on the school intercom who has won, therefore creating PSA’s new high school student council.
