Dr. Beatson joined the PSA staff in August of this year. Dr. Beatson has been teaching for 31 years. Prior to this, she worked at Gordon College in Massachusetts. For 13 years she worked at SCU in South Carolina before finally coming to Palmetto Scholars. Dr. Beatson didn't originally want to be a teacher, her family has a history of everyone being teachers or nurses, quote “I was in denial”. When she went to college, she finally accepted that teaching was the best option for her degree. Beatson thrives to make the classroom a safe space where everyone can be themselves and is accepted. In her free time she enjoys cooking, baking, and reading books. Beatson has a goal for her son and her to read 500 books in a year. So far, she enjoys teaching at PSA and being able to see her students learn and thrive.
