Palmetto Scholars Academy has had plenty of changes including new people transitioning to our school. We have not had the time to meet all the new staff that are at our school, so if you do not have a teacher’s class, then 9 times out of 10 you will not know who they are and what they do at our school. Some of the students that are in Ms. Miller´s Journalism class are introducing new teachers, and I was assigned Mrs. Gibson.

Mrs. Gibson is the new middle school counselor and does a wonderful job. She grew up in a small town in South Carolina named Summertown, it is right by the shores of Lake Marion. However, she has been living in Summerville, SC for over 10 years. Mrs. Gibson attended Winthrop University, which is in Rock Hill, SC and she also attended Liberty University for her Master’s Degree. She became a counselor because she loves helping students. She also has a degree in Broadcast Journalism which is really interesting.

Mrs. Gibson came from Ashley Ridge which is a big school compared to us, but she chose to come to PSA because she wanted to come to a small school to work with middle school students. She loves to travel with her family and also loves Disney, literally everything that is Disney. Mrs. Gibson is a family person and loves spending time with her children and husband. Altogether, she absolutely loves PSA, she says that this school is a ¨tight-knit and unique community¨ and that she is proud to be part of this community we have here.
