Welcome the New Band Director: Mr. Mckinley

Mr. McKinley is our new band director at PSA this year. He has prior experience teaching as he had taught at an elementary school for three years. While he was there he taught general music. He was also able to set up an African drumming unit. His desire to teach was sparked by his amazing teachers during his education, but his desire to teach band was inspired by his highschool band director. He said, “The one thing that got in our way was equipment. We couldn't afford better instruments so Jimmy Collins, whenever we had to do competitions, she would let us borrow her instruments.” Mr. McKinley has not done anything other than teach as his career. He wants to make sure his students learn how to appreciate, produce and enhance their music. He enjoys flight simulators as his hobby.
