What is VSC?
According to VirtualSC themselves, “VirtualSC is a free state-sponsored online program serving students currently attending public, private and home schools in grades 7-12 and Adult Education Programs.” VSC is a website that you can use to take extra classes, over the summer, in study halls, after school, and/or use to replace a class at PSA. For instance, if you wanted to take your PE/health class online (over the summer or during the school year) you could through VSC. VSC offers classes for seventh through twelfth graders.
How it works
VSC works like a real class, if you were taking it in place of a class offered at PSA you would have an allotted class time to work on it, if not you could do it in your free time. VSC works with PSA (and other SC schools) to provide classes, so to take a class you could sign up through PSA (to take a class during the school year) or yourself to take it over the summer. Every VSC class has a real teacher and curriculum. The classes are more or less self-paced on a variety of topics and levels. The teachers are very helpful, check in regularly with their students, and provide their students with plenty of resources and tips to pass their classes.
What classes can I take on VSC?
Any and every class that the state requires to graduate is available on VSC. You can take any English, math, social studies/history, and science class via VSC. In addition, they have fine arts classes you can take. VSC has regular classes (called college prep), honors classes, AP classes, and credit recovery (very helpful to retake a class over the summer).
How do I sign up?
I recommend going to https://virtualsc.org/ and checking out the classes that are offered when you can take them, and the deadlines to enroll. The classes do fill up quickly so make sure you enroll ahead of time.
My experience with VSC
My experience with VSC has been phenomenal, all of my teachers have been incredibly helpful and have encouraged me to do well in all of my classes.
