Music Appreciation Trip : The Black Violin Experience

On February 11th, 2022, all of PSA’s music classes went on a field trip to the Charleston, SC, Gaillard Center to watch the Hip-Hop group Black Violin perform. The group consists of artists Wil B. who plays the viola and Kev Marcus who plays the violin. The group originates from Lauderdale, Florida. It was a lovely performance full of light shows and music that the crowd loved! The songs played at the performance were mostly covers of popular songs such as “Best Part'' by H.E.R. which was sung by Wil B. as well as some instrumental music the group created. During the performance, the artist spoke about their lives and how they got to be where they are today. Kev Marcus spoke inspiration to us by telling us “If you have something you are good at, keep doing that thing until you perfect it. Then one day someone will pay you to do it”. After the performance, the attending students were able to eat lunch in the lovely yard outside of the Gaillard.
