Course Assessment:
This includes a Dissertation Project of 5000 words (completed in pupil’s own time) which is 45% of the final award.
Candidates will also sit a 3-hour SQA exam papers which accounts for the other 55% of the final award.
Course Details
Pupils will develop skills in knowledge and understanding of contemporary political and social issues in local, Scottish, United Kingdom and international contexts. Candidates develop the skills to interpret and participate in the social and political processes they will encounter in their lives.
Particular focus is given to the skills of synthesizing, analysing and evaluating as candidates demonstrate their knowledge and understanding by writing essays. In handling information, candidates are expected to demonstrate abilities in drawing conclusions about how trustworthy sources are. In addition, they will explore the advantages and disadvantages of research methods.
