There is an increased emphasis in schools throughout the country around Career Management Skills and how these can help our young people as they progress through school and beyond. Every school has been provided with the challenge of improving opportunities for young people to pursue their chosen career route, whether that is academic or vocational. As a result, we work closely with our Careers Coach, Carol Simpson, from Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and a range of business partners to embrace opportunities that an ever-changing labour market in Scotland creates.
As your child moves through school and into the Senior Phase, they will benefit from improvements we have recently made to our curriculum to ensure that there are relevant and appropriate learner pathways for every individual whether they choose to go on to University, College or employment. The course choice process therefore is about exploring interests and areas of strength which are then matched to a variety of career opportunities available to our young people. There is a lot of time spent with your child in PSHE classes to ensure your child has all the information they require to make the most appropriate decisions in relation to course choices.
