Course Details:
This class is for the specific purpose of preparing a portfolio of work to gain a place at Art College, or a course at a College of Further Education. Art Colleges usually require a minimum of four good passes at Higher level, but candidates must check the different requirements for individual courses. Further Education Colleges generally have lower entry requirements, but a good folio of work is still often required. The aim of the course is to develop a personal direction in the pupil’s work which will, include drawing and painting, but may also include photography, textiles, 3D work and printmaking, depending on the areas investigated by each individual.
Course Assessment:
Pupils may choose to focus on Design or Expressive for their main, ‘mandatory’ unit which will account for 60% of the overall mark. The second, smaller unit will account for 30% and may be a written study relating to their focus area OR a smaller practical unit from the other area. A further 10% is dedicated to the Statement of Intent in which candidates describe their working methods and evaluate their progress.
