2) CAREERS APPOINTMENT REFERRAL

If you haven't found the answer to the student's question and they need an intensive 1-to-1 careers guidance appointment, please follow these guidelines:

• ensure the student knows that they are being referred and why

• a careers appointment will only be offered to a student who knows they are being referred  

This will ensure that:

• the learner buys into the process 

• the learner knows why they are being referred

• the learner will be  prepared when they meet the careers adviser

• the careers adviser is fully informed about the student 

• the careers appointment will be more productive

• it avoids any potential confusion/conflict/confrontation
