UCAS Tariff Points and Deadlines

UCAS Tariff Points, Application Deadlines and Applying Through UCAS

UCAS Tariff Points

  • When applying for a degree course the university will want to know what UCAS points you have, and in fact once you complete your degree some employers also want to know this.

  • UCAS tariff points are points that UCAS assign to Level 3 qualifications, and these are added together to create your UCAS tariff score. To work out your UCAS points UCAS have created a handy calculator, click here to work out your score.

Application Deadlines

  • Depending upon the level and type of degree course you are applying for there are a variety of deadlines that you will need to keep in mind, knowing these will allow you to submit your application at the right time and so not miss out on your chosen course.

  • If you are in your first year of studying a level 3 course, you need to be aware of the deadlines but they won't affect you until the start of your 2nd year.

  • If you are in the second year of a level 3 course, then these are important as missing them could jeopardise your chances of getting on to your chosen course.

  • Although UCAS set the official application deadlines, Petroc has its own which are sooner because there are various activities that staff need to complete, such as writing references and quality checking. This needs to be done in plenty of time before the UCAS deadlines so that Petroc can complete the activities and forward your application to UCAS before the UCAS deadline.

  • PETROC DEADLINE: this is normally towards the end of November, check with your tutor for the exact date (in 2020 it was Friday 27th November).

  • Click here to see the UCAS deadlines, remember that Petroc sets its own deadline and also that you will be applying for university in the year before you start (enter) university and so select the entry deadline for the year in which you will start.
